Apple Watch Series 4

I’m a watch snob. Well, as much of a watch snob as you can be on a budget. For the last few years my trusty watch has been the Hamilton Khaki King Automatic. A beautiful, sturdy, reliable watch that I really like the look of.

Apple Watch Series 4. I purchased the only one the store still had in stock. The pink watchband was the first thing I replaced.

Then I started paying attention to the latest watch from Apple, the Series 4. I liked the idea of having the ability to receive and make calls from my wrist… (too much Dick Tracy as a kid?)

So I saved for awhile and purchased one from an online store. My preferred band and watch color (black) was out of stock, so I bought what was available. Gold watch, pink watchband. 😳

Milanese Loop
This is a Chinese version of the “Milanese Loop” – at a fraction of the price of Apple’s band.

When the watch arrived I removed the band and replaced it with a black magnetic mesh – a “Milanese Loop”. Again, being on a budget meant that my band came from China and at a fraction of the cost of the Apple version of the band.

I paired the watch to my iPhone and was surprised at the number of apps that were compatible and automatically moved across to the watch from the phone.

My watch now alerted me to emails, messages, weather alerts, emergency warnings… I was impressed. I had thought I would find the watch gimmicky and quickly move back to my Hamilton. That hasn’t happened.

I was also concerned about forever having to charge the watch – those concerns were unwarranted. I’m getting at least 4 days on a single charge.

My next purchase for the watch will be a Rhinoband. I’m just waiting on them to release a version for the Series 4. When they do release their Series 4 version, I’ll get one in black. My flashy gold watch case will vanish behind some high quality watch protection and all will be well with the world. 😎
